Shopping Small is BIG for the Community

Originally created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday has inspired millions of people to support small business across the country. Based on a Consumer Insights Survey conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Small Business Saturday supporters reported spending over $5.5 billion at independently-owned businesses on that day last year. By supporting locally owned businesses we are strengthening our community, probably in more ways than we think.

One of the reasons why I love this area so much is our love for supporting local, whether it is grabbing a cappuccino at Yellow House or listening to live music at The Captain Daniel Packer Inne, there are so many opportunities to get involved and stay inspired. This year, Small Business Saturday will be on November 30th. I hope to see you out and about and if you have any favorite shops to share, let us know by leaving a comment below!

Be sure to visit Stonington Borough, downtown Mystic, Mystic Village and Westerly for plenty of great options. Visit here to search for local shops in your area and encourage others to do the same. Together, we can support our town, our state, our neighbors and our friends.

Cheers to shopping small,
