Saltwater Farm Vineyard may be closed for the season but many of our fellow wine trail members are pouring all through the winter. Having two wine trails in the area (the Connecticut Wine Trail which kicks off its passport program in May and the Coastal Wine Trail where you can collect stamps year-round) there are certainly plenty of places to visit even if you can’t sip with us (we will be back soon enough…).

Last year was Saltwater Farm’s first participating in the Coastal Wine Trail, which includes the 14 vineyards and wineries in CT, RI and MA within close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Our shared southeast facing coastline captures the warm gulf stream waters in the summer and fall making this cool grape growing region a touch more mild than points further inland.

The Coastal Wine Trail is again offering a killer deal that will pay for itself in just a few stops. The Costal Wine Trail Vintner’s Ticket is available for purchase for just $99 and includes tastings for two people at each of the 14 stops on the trail (valued at $298, what a deal!). The Vintner’s Ticket can be purchased online here. Tickets can only be purchased online so make sure you order them in advance to your wine trail excursion.

Also, be sure to mark your calendar for the annual Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Market on June 18th at the Westport Fairgrounds in Westport, MA. Taste wines from all the Coastal Wine Trail members alongside local cheese, chocolate, honey and artisan bread from Southeastern New England. Small sessions and personal conversations with the owners and winemakers make this a unique experience. Tickets on sale soon!

We will of course keep you posted on our reopening, planned for some time in April, TBA. Until then, maybe we will see you at one of the other local wineries,

Cheers to the wine trails!
